Spring Break

Last month Cara and I got our refund from our taxes so we decided we wanted to do something fun with some of the money. We both had been to San Francisco, but only visiting Fisherman's Wharf. Friday night Cara and I drove to Elk Grove, where we stayed at the Hoyt's house; I can't remember the last time I was there, but we were glad to visit Jan and Blair. We left Saturday morning at 7:00 AM and got to the city around 8:30. The first parking place we saw, we left the car. Only after, did we realize that we parked on Pier 3, while we needed to get to Pier 33. Cara and I had bought tickets online for an Alcatraz tour. It was really interesting, although both Cara and I had a weird feeling the whole time we were in the cell house. After Alcatraz, we had lunch at Bubba Gump's Shrimp. Just to let everyone know, they have some good hamburgers there. We then walked around the wharf and found a left-handed store. There was some pretty neat leftie stuff in there, like no-smudge pens, left-handed notebooks. After that, we headed over to Boudin's Bakery where I bought some bread. Next, we walked to Ghirardelli's Square where Cara bought some chocolate. We had planned on going to the botanical gardens but after the walk back to the car, we were too tired. So we headed back to Elk Grove, where we had dinner and a great time visiting with the Hoyts at BJ's. Cara got a chicken alfredo pizza and I got a bacon cheeseburger pizza. Sunday morning Cara and I drove back to Reno. We had a great time on our little vacation.

Wednesday night Cara and I went to the GSR to see David Archuleta in concert. Cara babysits one of the girls from her work; the mom works at the GSR and gave us tickets to the concert a few weeks ago. As soon as Cara got back from work, we went to the hotel. There was already a line outside; we learned that some people had been there since 12:30 in the afternoon! Luckily though, Cara and I were able to find good seats, relatively in the middle of the concert hall. Before the concert started, I happened to see Jonalyn Foreman and Christie walk by. They came over and sat next to us during the concert. It was good to visit with them. The concert was really good; David sings great and plays the piano too.
